Welcome to Get Over Anxiety!
Thank you for visiting Get Over Anxiety. If you are here, you or someone close to you, is probably dealing with the symptoms of anxiety. As someone who deals with it every day, I can say I understand somewhat how you might feel. Of course, no one can truly appreciate everything a person feels because the experiences that make us individuals vary. But, the important thing to understand is that you are not at all alone.
Stress is a part of life. We
probably wouldn't survive too long without it. It can tell us
when we are in danger and helps us to act appropriately.
Sometimes in life however, the stress, and the anxiety it leads
to, are excessive and aren't in the same proportion as what caused the
stress to begin with. It is perfectly normal to worry about a big
test, or a big project at work, or if a family member is sick.
The problems begin when the worrying begin to affect your life
and your ability to live it. If you can't sleep, or work, or even
leave the house, then its a problem that needs to be dealt with.
And deal with it we all definitely can.
Some of the symptoms of anxiety can include: sleeplessness,
restlessness, nausea, shortness of breath, generalized fears such as
fearing you are going to pass out or even die, just to name a few.
One of the most problematic symptoms in my experience is the
feeling of being completely disconnected with the world. Like
there is an invisible blanket around you that nothing or no one can get
through. It is a frightening feeling, but one that you need not
live with.
Everyone has dealt with the symptoms of
anxiety from time to time. Whether it be feels some irrational
fear or being unable to fall asleep at night because we are worrying
about one thing or another. Anxiety and the accompanying
depression can be quite debilitating. But, it is not hopeless
regardless of how you may feel right now.
Anxiety can be coped with and treated. Depending on the
severity of your symptoms, a variety of techniques can work including
medication, talk therapy, and group therapy. For milder episodes
of anxiety and depression some helpful treatments can include herbal
remedies along with changes in diet and exercise. Walking outside
for exercise in particular can be particularly calming and may help
balance your moods.
Please remember that if you are experiencing severe or moderate
anxiety/depression symptoms you should consult with a health care
professional as soon as possible. I know that it can be
difficult to make that initial call to a doctor, but just remember that
they are there to help and it is better to make the call than to keep
suffering in silence.
